the new kids on the block

these puppies are so different than the last 3 i had. it's crazy to see how their first environment shapes them. these two love to rough and tumble...the boy (cutie) is older and it shows -- he can see much farther, and just has a better scope of the world. the little girl is much more a little baby (given, she's only 6 weeks old and he's 10 weeks old). anyway, the pictures below are compliments of bob's camera skills.

happy/sad news!

hi all puppy blog followers -

i have happy/sad news - the puppies and i went to hang out with paige and all the other mostly mutts rescues at the kennesaw petsmart today and all the babies were adopted out -- their new owners took on fostering them until they are spayed and then they're officially theirs -- so no more chloe, bear, and joplin. though it was so hard to let them go after being their mom since they were 2 weeks old, i'm happy they're going to good homes - i met the people that adopted chloe and joplin and both seem like they will be great new parents for the kids (hopefully they'll send pictures so we can keep up with them).

i did however, bring home their one littermate that didn't get adopted (one another girl had been fostering) and another puppy ("captain cutie") who is ADORABLE. the akita puppy and cap'n cutie are the same size even though cutie is 9 weeks old and the akita is 5.5 weeks old.

there were sooo many great dogs and puppies there today - please pass word on to your friends who may be considering getting one - you can put them in touch with me and i'll pass them on to paige.

we went to the vet today for the puppies' first shots and de-worming. that was uneventful. what is of note, however, is what they weighed in.

joplin is 7.5 lbs (yes, at 5.5 weeks)
chloe is 8.2 lbs
and bear is a whopping 9.8 lbs.

these pups are going to be GIANTS! :)

a slew of new pictures

there is a ton of new material posted today. remember, start from the bottom and go up in order to read the story chronologically. the last old post was the picture of scout kitty so you can scroll to there.

the puppies are beginning to have attitudes and have become very personable. they are ready to take on anything and EVERYTHING (except loud noises). they send their love to you all.

unfortunately, he falls asleep on the job and the kennel is infiltrated by the pesky sisters. 

post wrestling, bear retreats to the kennel where he stands guard against pirates, vacuum cleaners, and annoying little sisters. 

during all the wrestling, joplin has selected to take on the bath mat in the bathroom instead of dakota (this is allowed as joplin is the smallest and i feel that a bath mat may be good competition for her currently). 

ubu keeps re-iterating, "see, i told you these puppies are worthless...look at the mess they've madon the floor here." 

soon, we have to bring in shadow as a peace keeper - the puppies are too close to taking dakota out for good. here, shadow presents evidence to the court of mommy -- it is alleged the sock was used to inflict pain on dakota.
